It’s hard to find positives when you lose 12 of 13 games. It’s even tougher when the driving force behind the struggles is live ball turnovers, which for John Gallagher’s Manhattan Jaspers has inflated to 95 total turnovers in a six-game stretch. In Sunday’s 77-68 loss to Fairfield University, Manhattan coughed up 17 more.

But then again, the 26-year-old nomadic guard has had to wait four months and counting for a final verdict on the future of his college basketball career, with the Jaspers simply hoping for good news to lighten up their 4-11 record.

Bridget Robeson Costigan became a household name in Manhattan College sporting circles during her days playing for the school’s women’s basketball team in the late 1980s. Now, she takes pleasure in watching her daughter Alyssa, a sophomore guard, competing for the same program she once did.

The Manhattan College women’s basketball team has been a tough out in recent years in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play. They showed it again with a 73-39 win over Rider last Saturday. But unfortunately, they found an even tougher challenger in the Fairfield Stags, who hung an 82-58 loss for Manhattan on Monday night.
