Beehive tour

at Wave Hill

On Saturday, SEPT. 11, Wave Hill, located at West 249th Street and Independence Avenue, will host a fall beehive inspection at 11 a.m.

Beekeeper Roger Repohl will guide visitors for a hands-on look at the Wave Hill hives. Participants will learn proper techniques to safely work with a hive filled with 50,000 honeybees.

Beginning and experienced beekeepers are welcome.

The event is $20 for members and $30 for non-members.

Pastels Series

On Tuesday, SEPT. 14, Wave Hill, located at West 249th Street and Independence Avenue, will hold the first in a series of six art classes where students will learn about capturing the changing colors of autumn at 10 a.m.

Contemporary artist Wennie Huang will lead the class. Participants are provided with materials and individual guidance as they explore and interpret the surrounding landscape.

Classes are conducted outdoors, weather permitting, and all skill levels are welcome. The series of classes costs $210 for members and $270 for non-members and advance registration is required.

RCC offers classes

On Sunday, SEPT. 25 from 10 a.m. to noon and on Tuesday, Sept. 28, the Riverdale Community Center at the David A. Stein Riverdale/Kingsbridge Academy, MS/HS 141, located at 660 W. 237th Street, is accepting registration for its Adult and Youth Education Program. In-person registration will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
